The company has created the Petro-Canada EV Electric Highway, which stretches across the country from coast to coast. Simultaneously, Petro-Canada has introduced a fast and secure charging solution through the Petro-Canada EV App to enhance the user experience. Creating a new product required researching the industry to understand the EV hardware, its connectivity to vehicles, and EV user behavior and concerns. By understanding the chargers and their connectivity, we determined what information was necessary to display for the EV driver. After researching EV drivers, our team identified the features needed to improve the user experience, which changed the initial design. The Petro-Canada EV App underwent a significant upgrade to align with the Electric Highway initiative. Key features were introduced to facilitate fast and secure charging: - High-Speed Charging Locator: The app includes a real-time locator for high-speed charging stations along the Electric Highway. Users can plan their routes and locate the nearest charging points, ensuring a smooth and efficient journey.
The app introduced secure in-app payment functionality to streamline the charging process. Users can initiate and conclude their charging sessions with ease, eliminating the need for external payment methods and enhancing the overall security of transactions. - Real-Time Charging Status Updates: Petro-Canada EV App users gain access to real-time updates on the availability and status of charging stations. This feature minimizes wait times, optimizes the user experience by providing accurate information on charging station occupancy.
